Al Mizan- Vol 20 Chapter 11 (25-99)
This volume contains Allamah Tabatabai's commentary on the majority of Surah Hud in which he presents a number of interesting scholarly excurses. He provides treatments of the histories of each of the prophets mentioned including a detailed comparative study of the portrayal of the prophets Noah and Lot in the Bible and the Quran. This tone continues with his Islamic anthropology of idol worship. All of this attests to Tabataba’s breadth of knowledge and depth of thought. Furthermore, it suggests that the author saw the Quran and Islam as propounding and, at the same time, being grounded in, a thoroughly monotheistic worldview that was supposed to engage with the other faith and philosophical traditions of the world.
